Project Overview

Avello Group carried out interior painting and repair works across several areas of Viewbank Primary School, spanning the Junior School classrooms 5–8 with their connecting hallway and stairwell, and separately the school's gymnasium and breezeway. Both projects addressed the everyday wear that comes with a busy primary school—scuffed walls, marked ceilings, damaged panels and general surface fatigue—while keeping disruption to students and staff to a minimum.

Scope of Works

• Site set-up and safety planning across all work areas
• Filling of gaps, cracks and imperfections, with sanding of flat surfaces between coats
• Cleaning and removal of marks, cobwebs and sticky residue from walls, ceilings, timber doors, timber skirtings and steel beams
• Repainting of ceilings, soffits and bulkheads in Wattyl
• Repainting of timber windows and doors using a primer sealer undercoat and Wattyl Aqua Trim Low Sheen
• Repainting of bare brick and feature walls, including a colour change to selected feature walls
• Plaster repairs to a bulkhead in the stairwell corridor and to a gymnasium toilet wall
• Inspection and refastening of loose wall panels in the gymnasium, carried out via EWP
• Repainting of gymnasium wall panels, door frames, toilet doors and a sliding door
• Repainting of the gymnasium kitchen, stem area and staff, boys' and girls' toilets
• Repainting of exterior brick walls along the breezeway in the school's existing colours

Delivery Approach

• Works were spread across classrooms, common areas and the gymnasium, with sequencing planned around the school's daily timetable to limit interruption to lessons and student movement
• Areas requiring EWP access, such as the gym's higher wall panels, were scheduled separately from ground-level classroom work
• Every tradesperson involved held current Working with Children and National Police checks, as with all Avello projects on school sites
• Any repairs found outside the agreed scope were reported back rather than actioned without approval

Outcome

The project delivered:

• A consistent, refreshed finish across Junior School classrooms 5–8, the connecting hallway and stairwell
• Structural bulkhead and toilet wall repairs completed alongside the repaint
• A renewed gymnasium interior, including foyer, kitchen, stem area and toilet facilities
• Secured wall panelling throughout the gym following inspection and refastening
• A tidied, repainted breezeway exterior matching the school's existing colour scheme
• Minimal disruption to school operations throughout both projects
