Project Overview

Heidelberg Primary School was with Avello to carry out a select interior repainting programme across key operational and teaching spaces. The project balanced minor repairs — plaster patching, render repair below a window — with a full repaint using low-VOC, anti-mould paint systems suited to a working school environment. Scope was clearly defined room-by-room, keeping the project contained, predictable and easy for the Facilities Manager to budget and coordinate around the school calendar.

Scope of Works

• Landing outside AP Office: Ceiling and cornice touch-up, walls and timbers repainted in new colours
• Records Room: Minor plaster repairs, ceiling touch-up, walls and timbers in new colours
• Stairwell: Wall touch-up, timber side stairs and stair faces repainted in new colours
• Shared Safe Space (downstairs): Timbers, walls and steel column repainted
• Cleaners Room (downstairs): Render and plaster repairs to one wall, ceiling touch-up, walls and timbers repainted
• Classroom 4 & 5: Minor patching, timber ceilings, walls, cornices, picture rails, dado rails, skirtings, doors and windows repainted in existing colour

Method

All preparation followed Avello's standard process — removing blisters, runs and flaking paint, and filling gaps, cracks and imperfections — before applying low-VOC, anti-mould paint systems suited to occupied learning environments. Every tradesperson on site was Working with Children and National Police Checked, with full safety documentation, site set-up and daily clean-up managed throughout. Any repairs falling outside standard preparation were reported back to the Facilities Manager before proceeding, in line with Avello's 'no surprises' approach.
