Do you handle concrete cancer and remedial repairs before painting?

Yes. Avello Group identifies and manages concrete cancer (concrete spalling caused by corroding reinforcement steel) and other remedial defects as part of our pre-paint preparation process. Painting over unrepaired concrete cancer will cause the new coating to fail prematurely as the underlying deterioration continues. Our process involves identifying all spalling areas during the condition assessment, cutting out and treating corroded steel, applying concrete repair mortars, and sealing the repaired surface before any topcoat application. For high-rise buildings, all remedial work can be completed via rope access in the same program as the exterior repaint — avoiding the cost of two separate access mobilisations.
